Here’s a cool little fact: Constructed in 1900, the boardwalk wasn’t always open year-round: the boards would be taken up in the winter and stored for next spring! Today the boardwalk is open year-round and nearly 3 miles long. But the boardwalk isn’t the only cool spot in Ocean City. What about these? There are many places for you and your family to see.
Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum
A museum featuring the U.S. Life-Saving Service, a predecessor of today’s Coast Guard. Here you’ll find exhibits of shipwrecks, an aquarium room, mermaid displays and more. The museum also has an interesting gift shop you might enjoy visiting.

OC Fishing Pier
The only pier in Ocean City, MD that extends into the Atlantic Ocean. The best part? No fishing license required!

The Carousel Ice Skating Rink
The only ice skating rink in Ocean City, MD and quite possibly the only ice skating rink within an oceanfront hotel in the world! This is one of those places that Ocean City locals and visitors have grown to love and look forward to. The skating rink is open all year with available rental skates. In the summertime, you can have fun watching a free public Ice Show featuring The Next Ice Age skating company from Baltimore, MD.
Assateague Island
It was the great hurricane of 1933 that cut the Ocean City inlet and created the island that is now known as Assateague. Today, families can spend a day at the beach, see wildlife ponies, ride their bikes along bike paths, go kayaking, fishing, camping, and more.
