Imagine you’re afloat the ocean blue with nothing but a cardboard box and a paddle to get you to shore. During Build a Boat, teams of 4-6 must brainstorm, plan, build and test a vessel of their own making: pontoons, Viking ships, catamarans, skulls, kayaks, ketches. Once built and presented to the other team, the boats are “tested” in open water, and only the successful stay dry. Build a Boat works for groups as small as 5 and as large as 300.


Build a Bridge  |   Other Popular Activities


Build a Bridge can be facilitated indoors at almost any location, and works for groups as small as 8 and as large as 300. We particularly recommend this adventure for virtual teams (geographically dispersed groups) as it very closely parallels their daily work situation, R&D groups, and upper level managers who must coordinate the work of many disparate units.  Once built, the bridge prototypes are shared with the team, who assesses the aesthetic value of the creations, and tested for their strength. The teams that succeed are those in which someone in the group can capture everyone’s imagination, provide a vision and motivate them to move forward.

This team building adventure will ignite your team’s creative energy as they move through the stages of designing, planning, building, troubleshooting and presenting their prototypes to the other teams.  We’ll split your group into teams of 6 -10: each team then divides itself in half with the objective being to build two halves of a bridge in two separate locations that will be joined at the end of the program. With only limited simulated phone, email and fax communication to keep them on track during the construction phase, participants learn how to make the most of the planning phase and how to better communicate throughout the life-cycle of a project.

Your group can explore some of the preeminent forest preserves and state parks in the U.S. while working as a collective force to achieve a common goal should you select this challenging outdoor adventure. Teams of 3-4 learn topographical map reading, compass reading and distance pacing to successfully navigate an orienteering course and find hidden markers. The discussions during Team Orienteering focus on topics like leadership and coaching styles as well as group decision-making processes. Participants increase their levels of trust and personal confidence as they depend on each other’s newly acquired expertise with maps, compasses and distance-pacing to complete the orienteering course.

Geotrek  |  Other Popular Activities


GeoTrek, based on the recreational sport of geo-caching, blends adventure and technology into a valuable and fun team building or team development experience. Courses are set in rural or urban setting and secret caches are hidden in parks or distinctive city spots. Your team will experience the novelty of learning to use GPS devices and the excitement of locating caches. “Actual” caches contain clues to the next cache or instructions for team challenges, while “virtual” caches require proof of discovery.Whether you start and finish with a small group of 6-15 or a large group of several hundred people, you will divide into teams of 3-4 and receive maps or charts, a book of clues, and several “on-the-go” challenges. After a brief lesson on using the GPS (global positioning system) units, you will begin to determine the location of secret caches and develop your plan for success. Each team chooses the caches it will attempt to locate based on point values, distances, and your team’s strategy (fewer “big ticket” caches, or many smaller caches). It takes problem-solving and collaboration skills to determine exactly where the caches may be and solid planning, strategic thinking and effective decision-making to accomplish the GeoTrek challenge.

GeoTrek can include long hikes, or a series of short walks to get to the caches depending on your group’s objectives, and many cities offer public transportation (including taxis) that can greatly increase the distances covered in this half-day team building adventure.

In this dynamic and fast-paced adventure, your group will face one surprise challenge after another. Each team of approximately four is given a backpack with supplies, a time limit and a series of missions to complete.

Get Set…Go! can be brought to a park or urban setting around the world, and is designed to capitalize on area resources, like parks with lakes, trains and trolleys, climbing gyms and bike paths. We mix sophisticated problem-solving challenges, compass and GPS skills with adventure elements (biking, hiking, rock-climbing, or kayaking) to test your team’s mettle.

Great Speech often begins with a team challenge that provides a creative stimulus for developing the key components of each team’s speech, while rallying a strong team spirit. The challenges range from outdoor adventures to indoor tabletop exercises. Teams plan their short speech using our practical and humorous How-To handbook and props. The program is carefully structured, with specific roles and responsibilities, so that each team’s process of developing the speech sparks new understanding about creative teamwork.

Great Presentations: A Variation on Great Speech

For many people, public speaking feels as risky as sky-diving. Great Presentations helps your team tap into their creativity and interpersonal skills in a forum that is low-risk, but highly energizing.

 Great Presentations requires the ability to gather and summarize information and perspectives and collaborate, while giving your team insights into tailoring communications for an audience, choosing the right visuals and delivering an influential message.

 Participants work in teams of 4-6 to prepare a team presentation in one of many formats: client pitches, sales presentations, focus groups, brand launches, product launches or commercials. The program is carefully structured, with specific roles and responsibilities, so that each team’s process of developing the presentation sparks new understanding about creative teamwork.

Each team then delivers its Great Presentation to the entire group— complete with audio/visual elements. We work with you to shape the Great Presentation so that it aligns with your meeting’s themes, training initiatives and culture.
